Perspective…a word with a view!

20130528-220527.jpg

A smart girl should only marry a man; who allows her to paint outside the lines, who is willing to play beyond the scope of their bedroom, and who isn’t overly attached to the length of or how she styles her hair.

Certainly, I was fortunate to find a mate who always chooses find the good in me, who opts to laugh with me, but has never laughed at my expense. I appreciate that he supports my endeavors, especially the crazy over the top ones and 9 out 10 times he is right there beside me working to help me reach my intended level of success. In a word, he has been and continues to be my biggest cheerleader.

Of course, our marriage is a two way street of giving…at my urging he took college courses and surprised himself. He applied for a higher level position twice and was successful. We’ve both had moments when obstacles fell in our path blocking both our view, but never our perspective…we’d face one another, join hands fingers interlocked, smile knowingly and prepare to soar.

Nothing is as simple as one perceives 😊

Married Folks Humor….

So my hubby went to work Man-D overtime today, and I signed on for a home project (singular)

He just called saying “they tried to keep me, but I fought a good fight and won!” (meaning he’d escaped)

The conversation quickly turned to what I was doing. So, how far did you get on your project today?

Well…what I will tell the court is what I initially thought would be a simple and rewarding project (sanding our 10×24 deck) quickly turned into a very very tedious & back breaking project. Admittedly, after about ten minutes of sanding, I began thinking…this is one of those “hire out” projects. ROTFL

As was typical of me, I had seen only the “A & C” (the beginning and end) of the project without really considering the “B” aspect before leaping forward into the project (that B is always outside my realm of thought).

Did he gloat…nope, he looked at the chairs I had painted and said, I see you wanted to put your “accomplished” stamp on something today!

Hindsight: a woman should marry a man who makes her laugh, keeps her smiling, never views her as a workhorse and understands that her happiness is paramount to all things first and foremost.

As usual, I saw the “A & C” of the project, however I never really framed the “B” in the project (that is always outside my realm of thought).

Creating moments and memories.

20120223-050145.jpg

MOMENTS…moments are so precious and it’s usually long after they have passed and turned into memories that we become aware of their truest impact on our lives.

When I was a little girl, my Grand who was full of colorful colloquialisms would say “you’re showing the hem of your slip” when our exhibited behavior was less than desirable and if you knew my Grand you’d know that wasn’t too often.

…you hurt my feelings!

g-pa and the kid!

A smile crosses my face as I write this blog, recounting the exchange between my five-year old g-baby and I today on the staircase. Upon returning from his Kardio class I instructed him to remove his shoes and to carry them and place them by the stairs.

I wanted the shoes up stairs for convenience and practicality. His mom picks him up and uses the main door and our shoes were wet from the snow. We enter through the garage, remove our shoes and I did not want him tracking through the house. So when I asked him to take his shoes upstairs it should have been a simple request

It seemed to me that my request was “simple” and very clear, but what followed gave me great pause.

The child proceeded up the stairs and when I turned to ask him if he had removed his shoes as requested, he attempted to push pass me and go up the stairs. Now, this is where it gets sticky. You may have guessed that as his grand…I am taller, stronger and possess far more character than he has acquired in his mere five years of life…apparently he did not get the memo.  Read the rest of this entry »
