Things that I do when I am lying awake…

awakeIt is just mere minutes before 6am according to the clock on my iphone. I have been awake for the last two hours laying in bed catching up and reading both blog post that I follow and panning new ones. I was awaken by the snow trucks coming through and then I hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet on the carpet (hey, I have mother,s hearing) and saw a tiny head appear in the shadow of my iphone light. After a potty run, a kiss and tucking him back in his bed he had driffted off to sleep and I again lay awake…scrolling. Then I realized that I was 1) hungry and 2) dying to write something…and I managed to do both in just 8 minutes. Smile

…you hurt my feelings!

g-pa and the kid!

A smile crosses my face as I write this blog, recounting the exchange between my five-year old g-baby and I today on the staircase. Upon returning from his Kardio class I instructed him to remove his shoes and to carry them and place them by the stairs.

I wanted the shoes up stairs for convenience and practicality. His mom picks him up and uses the main door and our shoes were wet from the snow. We enter through the garage, remove our shoes and I did not want him tracking through the house. So when I asked him to take his shoes upstairs it should have been a simple request

It seemed to me that my request was “simple” and very clear, but what followed gave me great pause.

The child proceeded up the stairs and when I turned to ask him if he had removed his shoes as requested, he attempted to push pass me and go up the stairs. Now, this is where it gets sticky. You may have guessed that as his grand…I am taller, stronger and possess far more character than he has acquired in his mere five years of life…apparently he did not get the memo.  Read the rest of this entry »

Who do I want to be… when I growup?

anything, but wet!

I want to be the person who walks into the room and brings warmth, love and laughter. I envision my being the arms that make children feel safe, nurtured and loved. I should be the most rational cupcake, without too much over the top frosting.

My hope is that I can be the one who laughs with and is okay with being laughed at…because laughter is certainly the best medicine for falls, breaks and moments of craziness.

There is nothing simple about complex!

It’s just my beginning…

Hello world, welcome to my new WordPress blog.

Certainly you didn’t expect the first posting to be fabulous…did you? Well, think of this first blog as the informational link between you, me and the blog. LOL

You may wonder how I came to choose the title of my blog, well I wanted something that wouldn’t shoebox me in, but that would allow and create a forum for free flow of thoughts and information from every direction.

So, I hope you will return again, soon and often to smile and laugh with me.
